Hi Stephen! Let's start things off with a bit about you. Can you give us an introduction to who you are, and what you do?
My name is Stephen, and I am a family man that graduated with my Accounting Degree from the University of Houston in 2004. My specialty is the ability to break down financial information so it is very comprehensible to the end-user.

What are some of your favorite things about being an accountant?
My favorite things about being an accountant are as follows:
- Being an accountant allows me to help people make sense of their personal and business financial situations
- Being an accountant also helps me make better financial decisions in my personal life which put me in the position to start and grow multiple businesses
- Being an accountant also provides me with the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life that I might not have met had I not been in the industry (including the great people at Ageras).
What was it that initially drew you to the accounting profession?
I was drawn to the accounting profession because I wanted to be successful and perhaps own my own business one day, and since I was pretty good at math in school, the accounting profession made sense as a career path.
Many business owners underestimate the importance of accounting. So tell us, why do you believe that accounting is so important for business owners?
I believe accounting is important as a business owner and for business owners because the numbers tell a story without saying a word. Most business owners don't realize having their books in order alleviates future headaches when building their business and when approaching lenders for funding.
How does having a professional accountant benefit a business owner, versus doing bookkeeping/accounting tasks on their own?
Having a professional accountant allows business owners to focus on growing their business instead of spending hours each week keeping up with the books and trying to stay up to date with the tax code and other regulations that a professional accountant may already know or will spend time doing the research as it relates to the accounting profession.

I'm excited to work with Ageras because the team seems to understand what businesses need from an accountant so the leads received will be great after Ageras filters out the businesses that are NOT serious about hiring a professional accountant.
